After the job
Warranty papers and credentials
A roof has two kinds of coverage, and they come from different people. I put both in writing and tell you who stands behind which.
- 01
The manufacturer's material warranty
Comes from the shingle maker and covers defects in the shingles. It has terms, limits and exclusions. Hail damage, for one, is not covered by most shingle warranties.
- 02
A system warranty from the maker
Some shingle makers offer more if the roof is installed as a system by a contractor they recognise. If I offer one, the estimate names it and says who registers it.
- 03
My written workmanship terms
These are mine. They cover how the roof was put on, for the length of time written on your estimate. The terms, limits and exclusions are written down.
What "lifetime" means
Shingle makers use the word lifetime. It means less than it sounds, so here it is in plain words.
Whose life
The owner's, for as long as they own the home.
What it covers
Manufacturing defects in the shingles. Not the labor to put them on, and not storm damage.
What it pays
Often the full cost at first, then less each year.
What I can show you
Local registration
My contractor registration number is in the footer of every page, with who issued it.
A certificate of insurance
Ask Delores and she will email it to you or to your insurer before the work starts.
Manufacturer paperwork
If your roof comes with a registered manufacturer warranty, you get the registration papers when the job is finished.
Questions about the papers?
Call Delores. She handles them.
