Re-roofing

Roof replacement in Evansville

A full tear-off, a new deck check and a roof you do not have to think about.

Most roofs here need replacing when the shingles curl, crack or lose their granules, when the attic shows daylight or stains, or when the roof is near the end of its range.

I will tell you if a repair gets you more years before I tell you anything about a new roof.

  • Old shingles torn off down to the deck

  • Rotted decking replaced at a price written in advance

  • Underlayment, drip edge, flashing and vents done new

  • Cleanup with a magnet sweep for nails

The job

How a replacement goes, day by day

  1. 01

    Step 1: The day before

Move cars off the drive, take pictures off upstairs walls, and clear the attic of anything you want kept clean.

  2. 02

    Step 2: Day one: tear-off

The crew covers shrubs and AC units, strips the old roof and checks the deck. If a sheet is bad, I show you before it is replaced.

  3. 03

Step 3: Day two: new roof

Underlayment, flashing, shingles and ridge. A smaller roof may finish in one day, and a bigger one takes more.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Cleanup and walk-through

A magnet sweep of the yard, then I walk the roof with you and go over the papers.

Re-roofing questions

Can you put a new roof over the old one?

Sometimes, but I usually don't. A second layer hides rot, adds weight and may break code. I will tell you what I see.

Will you replace my gutters too?

Only if they are damaged, sagging or too small. Many gutters are fine and stay.

What do I do before the crew arrives?

Move cars, take fragile things off the walls, cover what is in the attic, and keep pets and children inside.

Do I need a permit?

For a full replacement, almost always. I pull it and put the fee on the estimate.

Ready for a look at your roof?

I come to the estimate. You get it in writing.
