Roofing in Evansville, Indiana

Your roof, looked at by the owner

I'm Odell Whitley. My wife Delores and one crew make up Whitley Roofing. I come to your estimate, go up and look, and write down the work and the price.

What is the roof made of?

Odell or Delores calls you back to set a day.

Who comes to your house

Two people, two cell phones

No call center and no salesman. Odell does the estimates and runs the crew. Delores books the visits and handles the paperwork.

  • Owner, estimates and crew lead

    Odell Whitley

I come to your estimate. I go up on the roof, take photos, and show you what I found before I say anything about price.

What I do

Roofs, repairs and storm damage

Asphalt shingle roofs on houses and garages are most of the work. Other materials are quoted after a visit.

  • Re-roofing

Tear-off down to the deck, new underlayment, flashing and shingles, and a clean yard.

    How a re-roof goes
  • Repairs and leaks

Flashing, vent boots, chimneys, valleys and loose shingles. I would rather fix a roof than sell you a new one.

    How I find a leak
  • After a storm

Wind and hail inspections, with photos and an itemized written estimate you can share with your insurer.

    What to do first
  • Gutters and small jobs

Gutters, downspouts and fascia, done with a roof or on their own.

When you call

What happens next

  • You call or send the form

Odell or Delores answers, or calls you back. We ask how old the roof is, what it is made of, and whether it is leaking now.

  • I come to your house

At the time we set. I walk the outside, go up on the roof tied off, and look in the attic if I can get in.

  • You get it in writing

Photos, what I found, repair or replace, and the work and the price on paper. Nothing to sign that day.

  • You decide

Compare it with other estimates. Call me with questions. There is no clock on it.

On your roof

Tied off, every time

Anyone on your roof wears a harness tied to an anchor. Ladders are set at the right angle and run past the eave.

It is slower than skipping it, and it is the only way I send a crew up.

  • Harness and rope on every roof that needs one

  • Ladders set and tied before anyone climbs

  • Tarps and cleanup before the crew leaves each day

Two roofers in harnesses crouch on a dark shingle roof, tied to yellow safety lines

What neighbors say

Questions

Before you call

How long does a roof last?

Architectural asphalt shingles run about 25 to 30 years, and older 3-tab shingles about 15 to 20. Indiana sun, storms and poor attic ventilation shorten that.

How long does a replacement take?

Most houses take one to three days. A steep or complicated roof takes longer, and winter weather can stretch it.

Do I need a permit?

For a full replacement, almost always. I pull it and tell you the fee on the estimate.

What if it rains during the job?

I tear off only what the crew can dry in that day and cover what is open. If rain is coming, we stop.

Will you check my attic?

Yes, if I can get in. The underside of the deck, the insulation and the airflow tell me things the shingles don't.

Want me to come look at your roof?

Call Odell, or send the form at the top of this page. Delores will set the day.
